How to Tell if You Have a Cavity Around Your Filling

Posted on 7/12/2021 by Dr. Michael Wockenfus
How to Tell if You Have a Cavity Around Your FillingCavities are eventual for many people these days. Because we eat foods with high acid and sugar content, we expose our teeth to possible discomfort, and when that happens, lucky people can go get a filling put in to stop the cavity from spreading. Fillings are meant to 'fill' the cavity hole where tooth decay has occurred. In the process, this is meant to stop further degradation and further discomfort from occurring. But, sometimes fillings don't stop what they are meant to stop, resulting in cavities around or underneath fillings.

How Can I Tell That There is an Issue?

As with most dental issues, if you experience discomfort after getting a filling, you should come in to get it looked at. Since dental states take a long time to both fix themselves and decay themselves further, it is important that you come to see us the moment you feel something wrong. Sometimes, you will even be able to see the cavity around the filling, or you can see a visible crack in the filling. If you see either of those, they are a sure sign that something has gone awry. Other times, you may not be able to see the issue, but a dull ache can confirm that something is wrong.
